Safeguarding Statement

At Kelvingrove Medical Centre, we are committed to keeping our patients safe.
We have a duty of care to protect:

  • Children and young people

  • Adults at risk (for example, older people, people with disabilities, or those with mental health needs)

If we are concerned about your safety, or the safety of someone you know, we may need to share information with other services to protect you.

Our safeguarding leads

We have named safeguarding leads at the practice:

  • Dr Sarah Magowan – Safeguarding Lead GP

  • Dr Ryogo Ashida – Deputy Safeguarding Lead GP

You can ask to speak to them at any time if you are worried about safety or wellbeing.

If you have concerns

If you are worried about abuse, neglect, or exploitation:

  • Speak to any member of our practice team

  • Ask to speak to our safeguarding leads

  • In an emergency, call 📞 999

  • For urgent help when it is not an emergency, call 📞111

We want everyone to feel safe raising concerns. You will always be listened to, and your concerns will be taken seriously.

Children’s safeguarding (“Was Not Brought”)

If a child misses a medical appointment, we record this as “Was Not Brought”.
This is because it is the parent or carer’s responsibility to bring a child to their appointment.
Repeated missed appointments may raise safeguarding concerns and could be referred to the local safeguarding team.

Adults at risk

We also have a duty to protect adults who may be unable to protect themselves due to age, illness, disability, or other circumstances.
If we believe an adult is at risk of harm or neglect, we will act to safeguard them.

How we handle information

We will always try to talk to you first before sharing information.
If we believe someone is at risk of serious harm, we may have to share information without permission. This is to protect you or others.

Accessibility

We can provide safeguarding information in alternative formats or languages, including Easy Read, large print, and interpreters. Please call us on 📞 01773 713201.
