Confidentiality Policy

Our Commitment

We take your confidentiality very seriously. Everything you discuss with our staff, whether that's our doctors, nurses, receptionists, or other staff members, is kept strictly confidential.

We follow the NHS Confidentiality Code of Practice, the Data Protection Act 2018, and UK GDPR. All of our staff receive regular training on confidentiality and data protection.

Patients under 16

If you are under 16, your consultation is still confidential. You have the same right to privacy as adults.

If you understand your care and choices (sometimes called “Gillick competence”), we will not share your information with parents, carers, or others without your permission. If you are not able to make decisions on your own, we may involve your parent or carer if this is in your best interests.

If we believe you or someone else is at risk of serious harm, or if the law requires it, we may have to share information. Whenever possible, we will talk to you first.

When information may be shared

The only times we may share information without your agreement are:

  • when required by law, or

  • when needed to protect you or someone else from serious harm.

Whenever possible, we will discuss this with you first.

Private space

If you would like to discuss something privately with a receptionist or member of the dispensary team, please let us know. A side room is available in reception for confidential conversations.

Accessible information

If you need information about confidentiality in another language, large print, or easy-read format, please let us know and we will provide it.

Questions or concerns

If you have any worries or questions about confidentiality, please ask a member of staff.
