Chaperone Policy

We are committed to making sure every patient feels safe, supported and respected during their care.

Your privacy and dignity

We always respect your privacy, dignity, and cultural or religious beliefs.

When a chaperone is offered

For any examination or procedure that may involve intimate contact (such as breast, genital, or rectal examinations), you will be offered a trained chaperone.

Requesting a chaperone

You are welcome to ask for a chaperone at any time, including when you book your appointment, when you arrive at the practice, or during your appointment.

Who can be a chaperone

Chaperones are trained members of our staff. Friends or relatives can be present for support, but they are not formal chaperones.

Record of chaperones

If a chaperone is present, or if you decline one, this will be recorded in your medical notes.
